Staff Profile – Sioban Churchill

Sioban was born in Southern Africa. She spent her childhood growing up in South Africa, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and Botswana, and attended nine different schools during her 12 years of schooling, including boarding school while living in Botswana!

Sioban completed her Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in Accounting and Mercantile Law at Rhodes University in Grahamstown, South Africa. Straight from university she was recruited by Unilever, and was one of only 12 graduates out of 200 interviewees that were selected for their Accelerated Management Program.

A few years later, Sioban joined a ‘big five’ accounting firm in Port Elizabeth before starting up her own small accounting and tax practice.

Then Sioban met her soul-mate, Winston Churchill (seriously), and when he asked her to move to Australia with him, she didn’t hesitate. Within a few months they were married and on their way!

Arriving in Australian in 1996 she kept the tradition from her busy moving and travelling childhood. She ventured from the Blue Mountains to Sydney, Nowra and Coffs Harbour before landing on the Gold Coast in 2006.

In between her busy working life, looking after her Maltese/Shih Tzu cross, Molly, and travelling once a year to Southern Africa or USA to visit family, Sioban enjoys reading (she wrote a book review for our newsletter this month!), socialising, cross-stitching, attending zumba every week, watching movies and eating out.

During a visit to Southern Africa in August Sioban bungy jumped off the highest bungy bridge in the world - 216 metres to be exact!!

Sioban hopes to take a holiday to Koh Samui and achieve some stability in life, having moved way too much.
